Good Talking clock radios

Hi there.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good talking clock radio?
I've got 2 and they've both bitten the dust. One is in our bathroom and we like to listen to news while getting ready. I suppose I could use my phone with a Bluetooth speaker and all that crap and just get a talking clock but I really like the simplicity of just flipping a switch first thing in the morning. Plus my hubs would absolutely not do all that.
The other is in the kitchen and I sometimes listen to it while cooking dinner or the Hubs listens before he wakes the rest of us up in the morning.
I've seen the IV talking clock and it looks cool. The only thing is it doesn't have A.M. Hey, don't hate. We like to listen to a couple of talk shows that are only broadcast on our A.M. station or on it's HD equivalent.
I have looked in Maxi Aids and ILA but can't seem to find a good one. Oh, what's wrong with the ones we have? Well, the voice on the one in the bathroom sounds like it's coming from the depths of hell. Either that or it's been taken over by aliens. Besides, it's got that annoying talking watch bong sound with that equally irritating voice, even when it did work right.
We have allot of power flickers - thank you sstupid smart meter - so I think the electronics in the voice are fried.
The one in the kitchen is that nice one that has several round buttons on it with a large button to announce the time. I'd really like to find that one again because it's a great little clock radio. It just got drenched one day when I left the windows open during a thunderstorm so it doesn't keep accurate time.
Anyway, that's a very long story to go along with a very short question.
Sooooo, recommendations???

No, but I'd love to know if anyone knows of a good one that has the clock radio feature without the time being announced when the radio goes off as an alarm.
All the ones I've seen or had include the stupid voice alarm repeating the time at excruciating volume just before the radio comes on which totally defeats the purpose of being gently woken up by music.
Every talking alarm I have had bit the dust within a year or two and I could never find the above so I just quit looking.
Good luck.

A little off topic, but I want a shower radio and some kind of transmitter that will stream music from the PC to that radio.

I have one but i don't know the brand. I can find out later. I can't remember how it works in details but I don't think it spoke when the radio alarm went off. I have had it for almost 5 years and it works fine.
It has AM/FM
the usual three alarm sounds.
the radio alarm option
the volume and radio changers are wheels on its side while everything else are long buttons on frunt or top.
It does also show 24/12 hour time but only anounces 12 hour time. wierd

There's a Bluetooth shower speaker on Amazon.com and on thinkgeek.com I think it normally costs $49 but I've seen it for $29.99 too.
Yes, I'd love the brand of radio.

I don't know about your area, but out here one of the most prominent and successful A.M. conservative stations is now on FM as well. Texas being far more conservative than Oregon, I don't see why yours would not have an FM version of itself, either now or shortly.

Years ago Bed Bath and Beyond sold a voice activated talking alarm clock. I believe they sell them on blind mice mall now and they make them with a radio as well that you can control from the other side of the room since its voice activated. I personally grew to hate it because every now and then something that sounded like the clocks call word would trigger it in the middle of the night and it would start talking. lol! But its nice in the beginning. Does temp and has sleeping relaxation sounds and timers as well.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. I nearly forgot.
The only thing it says on it is,
ILA talking radio alarm clock.
I got it from an aids and appliance shop at GMS (govener Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh NC.)

Ah, ok. thanks. I think that's one I have also. How funny.
Leo, they do have an FM side but it's only in HD. I don't have an HD radio. They used to have one on standard fm but sports talk took it over.
Oh boy, something talking in the middle of the night. That's about the last thing we need around here. lol
I think I'm going to switch gears and just get a small radio for the kitchen and a talking clock and timer. As for the bathroom radio, I may just get the hubs a regular talking alarm clock and move the radio we have now into there. It's one of the atomic ones with a large display so inaccessible to hubs.

Bill posted something about an HD radio talking clokc coming out. it was made by Audiovox. I have yet to see an update on this clock.
I do have the Insignia Narator which is HD, and the alarm works great to.
good luck in finding one
